Select the Edge tool from the Palette, click it, move to the Graph Editor pane and click inside the UniversalDataReader component near its output port. After that, an edge appears connected to the output port of the component. Now click inside the ExtFilter component near its input port. This way the edge connects the two components. Do the same with the other components. Connect ExtFilter with ExtSort and ExtSort with UniversalDataWriter.
The edges are still dashed since no metadata are assigned to them. Click Esc on the keyboard to leave the Edge tool. To close the Palette, click the rightward-pointing black triangle at the top of the Palette.
Now you can align all four components. Click anywhere up from the graph components on the left side. Hold the left mouse button down and drag to the right and down until the dashed rectangle surrounds all components. After that, release the button. The components become highlighted and six new buttons appear at the upper left.
Now click the fourth button from the left to align the graph components. And once you have done it, after clicking anywhere in the Graph Editor, highlighting disappears. See the following window:
Now you need to create metadata.
